  • What is the capacity of people in the barn?

    The maximum capacity of the barn is limited to no more than 149 people including servers, bartenders and staff. For everyone's comfort, we suggest that your guest list be limited to no more than 120 people.

  • Do you cater events?

    We do not have a certified kitchen and therefore we do not do the catering. You would be responsible for the hiring of a caterer.  We do provide a suggested vendors list for all services from catering, bartending, DJ or band etc., however, the cost of and booking of these services would be your responsibility.

  • May we have a bar during our event?

    The Lavender Farm is not a licensed facility. You may operate a bar but you are responsible for obtaining a liquor license from the LCBO.  The bar staff must be Smart Serve certified and minors may not be served.

  • Are the premises covered by insurance?

    The Lavender Farm has its own insurance coverage.  We require anyone renting the barn to carry a 5 million dollar PALS liability insurance to cover the 3 days of the rental period.  Outside vendors that you hire must also have their own liability insurance.

  • Can we use candles in the barn?

    No open flame of any kind (candles, heaters, serving dishes etc.) are NOT permitted due to the nature of the wooden barn construction.

  • Is the farm open to the public?

    We have a retail store that is open from 10am - 3pm on Saturdays. Please take this into consideration when you are planning the time of your event to avoid having members of the public around.  We do our best to limit the intrusion of the public on the day of your event.

  • Is the barn modernized for use?

    The barn has not been altered greatly from its original structure.  There have been small changes to ensure  safety and to comply with local codes, but the structure is original.

  • What is your payment policy?

    The first payment of $1000.00 is due at time of booking. The 2nd payment of $1000.00 is due one year before the date of the event and the balance is due as payment 30 days before the event.  Couples must provide $5 million dollars liability insurance coverage naming The Lavender Farm and Bob, Barb and Julie Gillies on the policy.

  • What type of payments do you accept?

    We have the following payment options:

    Credit Card - A 2% service charge will be applied to all payments made by credit card.

    We will try to accommodate any special requests you may have, we could rent other items on  your behalf and charge you the full invoice amount + 15% for this extra service.

  • Do you have an event co-ordinator to help us?

    Our officiant will meet with you a few weeks before your day to plan your ceremony.  You are responsible to obtain a liquor license, insurance coverage as well as book and pay the vendors (caterer, DJ, photographer, etc.)you require. Our coordinator will take care of communication for your vendors on the day of.
